Sovereignty in the Jordan Valley – also in a Unity Government

Updated: Jul 12, 2020

Beneath the surface of the Israeli election stalemate is a disunity in Israeli society that reflects a dire need. Something drastic is required that will bring unity to the people and nation which will both empower and enable Israel to rise to their God-given potentials.

Capitalizing on this truth, visionaries Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar of the Ribonut Movement sent a public, open letter to PM Netanyahu and MK Benny Gantz, head of the Blue & White Party with these poignant words of direction;

"In these days of discord and disunity among the People, we believe that the dramatic and historic step of applying Israeli sovereignty over the Valley will unite the vast majority of the people in Israeli and around it. You have the power to do it, and it is important that it be done particularly within the context of a unity government. Therefore, we call upon you to include the implementation of your promise to apply Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley in the basic outlines of the next government”.

As the Christian liaison communicating the Ribonut Movements articles and activities, we are please to provide you this powerful letter which has been published in Israeli news. Featured are the election promises that both made concerning the application of sovereignty over the Jordan Valley. MK Benny Gantz stated during his visit to the Jordan Valley on July, 2019 that;

“The Valley [Jordan] is the eastern defensive wall of the State of Israel. It will always remain under our control. It has tremendous strategic importance”.

PM Netanyahu stated on September 10, 2019 that; “…after the election, Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley would be applied…”

Please pray that as negotiations continue to form a new government, that the unifying power of absolute Jewish Sovereignty will constitute the foundation and platform of the new Government. For only when the Jewish people are unified in the very land covenanted to them by God Himself, will they be the people God intends them to be – and the blessing to the rest of the world the bible declares. And that is something Christians around the world need to support. Please join ROI as we seek to fulfill these bible promises.

Watch these two short videos that powerfully illustrates why Israel can never withdraw from any territory they were guaranteed by International Legislation and gained in subsequent wars and conflicts or why Israel opposes any international military forces in the Jordan Valley.

Sovereignty in the Jordan Valley – also in a Unity Government

The Sovereignty Movement demands that Gantz and Netanyahu include the application of sovereignty over the Jordan Valley in the basic outlines of the Unity Government, if one should be formed, in accordance with their promises.

The Sovereignty Movement demands that the Prime Minister and the head of the Blue and White party include the fulfillment and implementation of their promises to apply Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley in the basic outlines of a Unity government, if such a government will be formed.

In the letter that they sent to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the head of the Blue and White party, Member of Knesset Benny Gantz, the co-chairwomen of the movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, call on the two leaders to include the application of sovereignty over the Jordan Valley in the basic outlines of a unity government, as they both have promised in the time before the last election.

In their letter, the two women cite the words of Netanyahu and Gantz regarding the importance of the Jordan Valley and the historical and security imperative to develop the area and apply Israeli law there.

According to the two women, taking the step of implementing sovereignty in the Jordan Valley, especially when done by a unity government, will express very well the broad Israeli consensus supporting the implementation of sovereignty in the Jordan Valley.

“The jubilant promise”, write Katsover and Matar to Netanyahu, “that you made on September 10, 2019, that you would apply Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley after the election was a breath of fresh air for the citizens of Israel, in the spirit of a return to the basic Zionist values of strengthening and clinging to the Land of Israel and enhancing the security of the State of Israel.

Your promise expressed a broad and welcome consensus among the People, which the head of Blue and White, Member of Knesset Benny Gantz, also expressed when visiting the Jordan Valley last July. During this visit, in which other senior members of his party participated, Gantz declared that “The Jordan Valley will be under Israeli control forever”, and he promised: “We will present a national plan for the development of the Valley”.

Gantz also stated that “The Valley is the eastern defensive wall of the State of Israel. It will always remain under our control. It has tremendous strategic importance”.

In their letter to Member of Knesset Gantz, Katsover and Matar wrote about his remarks because “Your important position matches well the position of Prime Minister Netanyahu, who promised to bring about the application of Israeli sovereignty in the Jordan Valley. The declaration of loyalty to the Jordan Valley made by both of you clearly represents the broadest Israeli consensus and a return to the most basic Zionist values of strengthening our hold on the Land of Israel and the security of the State of Israel”.

The two women write to Netanyahu and Gantz because “in these days of discord and disunity among the People, we believe that the dramatic and historic step of applying Israeli sovereignty over the Valley will unite the vast majority of the People in Israeli around it. You have the power to do it, and it is important that it be done particularly within the context of a unity government. Therefore, we call upon you to include the implementation of your promise to apply Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley in the basic outlines of the next government”.

The Sovereignty Movement notes that at as of now, the offices of the two leaders have not responded.

Katsover and Matar continue, emphasizing that the application of sovereignty over the Jordan Valley is not the endpoint of the demand for sovereignty; the goal is the application of full Israeli sovereignty over all parts of the Land of Israel. However, they do find significant value in sovereignty over the Valley as a first step toward the continuation.

“We must not view the application of sovereignty in the Valley as an end-point, but a first step on the way to realizing the full vision of sovereignty, including Israeli sovereignty over all parts of the Land of Israel. At this time, the leadership is presented with an opportunity to take a joint, significant and sovereign step, even if it is only the first step on the road to full sovereignty”.
